Sealed System Kits and Expansion Vessels
Flamco Flexcon Sealed System Kits
Flamco Flexcon Sealed System Kits
Sealed System Kits and Expansion Vessels
Under the brand name Flexcon, which is registered world wide, Flamco produces an extensive range of expansion vessels and automatic expansion equipment for use in heating and cooling technology as well as drinking water systems. With a capacity extending from 2 litres for the smallest model up to 12,500 litres for the largest version. Three types can be distinguished in this range. First of all, expansion vessels with a fixed diaphragm construction for housing and smaller public utility buildings. Then there are the expansion vessels with a replaceable diaphragm used in medium-sized buildings such as schools, small factories, offices and hospitals. And thirdly we have the group of compressor or pump-controlled automatic expansion systems for use in large to very large buildings such as industrial sites and greenhouses.
Keep the temperature at the Flexcon vessel as low as possible.
Connect the Flexcon vessel as a non-circulating component.
Connect the Flexcon vessel to the return pipe-work.
Avoid strong heat radiation.
Install the Flexcon vessel and the Prescor safety valve at (roughly) the same height.
Connect the Flexcon vessel to the suction side of the pump.
Connect the Prescor safety valve to the boiler or in the supply pipe-work close to the boiler.
With more than one boiler, connect a Flexcon Expansion vessel to each boiler within the shut-off valves, calculating on the basis of the water contents of the boiler. Connect one or more Flexcon vessels to the return pipe-work, calculating on the basis of the total water contents of the installation.
In installations with a mixing valve, make sure that there is an open connection between the boiler and the Flexcon Expansion vessel in all positions of the valve.
With closed installations, the Flexcon Expansion vessel must be fitted on the suction side of the pump. Moreover, when determining the correct position for the Flexcon Expansion vessel, care must be taken that pressure differences between the Prescor safety valve and the Flexcon vessel are avoided as much as possible.
A placing instruction is delivered with every Flexcon Expansion vessel.
1 The expansion vessel should be connected to the system at a point close to the pump inlet in order to maintain positive pressures throughout the system.
2 The safety valve should be fitted either on, or close to the boiler on the flow pipe.
3 The pressure gauge should be fitted preferably close to the expansion vessel and/or the boiler, in such a position that it can be easily read from the filling point.
4 The filling point should be near the key components, particularly the pressure gauge, and should be a temporary connection to allow filling from the water mains, incorporating a double check valve and isolating valve(s).
5 Automatic air vents should be fitted at the high points in the system. Consideration should also be given to fitting an additional automatically vented air separator to assist in purging air from the system.
6 1/2" Tundish should be fitted after the safety relief valve providing an air gap. To comply with building regulations a drop of 300mm minimum should be allowed after the tundish, before discharge.
